The House Renovation Saga

mood: accomplished

Not only did hubby and I managed to squeeze in a trip to the supermarket for our weekly shopping, but we also stopped by Bunnings to pick up a few more items. Once we got home, I tackled the grouting of the ensuite floor. I was hoping to finish all of the grouting tonight but unfortunately the floor took a bit longer than anticipated.

I should be able to get the feature tiles completed tomorrow night after work (lots of little blue tiles).

Hubby worked on measuring and drilling holes for the next lot of downlights, which will be placed in the living room.

Oh, and I have to mention how impressed I am with the new skylight in the kitchen! It's really opened up the room and makes me feel so much happier. I'm definitely a child of the light, requiring lots and lots of light as one of my feel-good factors!

It's been a very productive weekend. We:

• Voted in the elections
• Grouted the majority of the ensuite (have yet to do the floor)
• Siliconed the joints of the ensuite
• Installed downlights in the kitchen
• Installed skylight in the kitchen
• Measured out the front yard (trees, driveway, fences, etc) for our friend who's going to draw up a landscaped design for us
• Visited Queanbeyan Auctions where we checked out what's for sale and looked at a new kitchen (which looks like being quite a good price)

We reached a milestone tonight! We've finally finished tiling the ensuite. Glen and Alastair did an absolutely fantastic job getting it to the stage where I could help out tonight to finish off the tiling of the floor. Unfortunately the colour isn't showing up particularly well in the photo above, but the tiles are a blue/grey colour.

It's so exciting to reach this milestone! What's left to do:

• Grout the tiles
• Install the toilet
• Install the shower screen
• Install the vanity unit
• Install towel rack and toilet roll holder

After a very long hiatus, renovations on the ensuite has started back up. We now have a deadline, thanks to the new town house we've purchased (currently getting built).

Glen is a major help! He came over on Sunday and today (which is our new public holiday, thanks to the Melbourne Cup). He and Alastair made good progress on the bathroom. Pictures below! Hopefully Alastair and I can complete the rest of the tiling over this week.
