Skylights and ensuite

It's been a busy weekend. We've installed the remainder of the skylights - two in the living room. It's made a huge difference. The room feels so much bigger and is definitely so much brighter! It took a fair amount of time with the cutting of holes, lining up of the metal tubing etc.

The bedroom aircon was installed yesterday. Unfortunately it doesn't actually seem to cool the room. Hubby has to get in touch with the manufacturer to see if they can service it under warrenty.

I've also worked on the ensuite ceiling - sanded and sugar soap the ceiling. Unfortunately, we ran out of time to paint it. Hubby will hopefully get to it over the next few days while I'm away on a business trip.

The hardest thing about both the ensuite ceiling and the skylights was having to hold my arms up for that long! It's making my RSI feel worse...

Grouting and downlights

I really really dislike having to do renovations. I'm the type of person that likes to live in a completed modern home! But hubby loves renovating and as much as I dislike it, I do enjoy the sense of accomplishment we get for completing milestones.

Over the past two days, I've finished grouting the ensuite. The feature tiles were a bit tricky as they were a different depth to the other wall tiles. I managed to finish the box of grout and didn't have to open a new one! I was getting a bit desperate towards the end though and really scraping the ice cream container to get every bit of grout.

While I was doing that, hubby was installing the downlights in the living room. He's now doing some initial work for the remaining two skylights which he'll install tomorrow after work (as we're running out of light, plus there's some very ominous clouds on the horizon).

More grouting

Not only did hubby and I managed to squeeze in a trip to the supermarket for our weekly shopping, but we also stopped by Bunnings to pick up a few more items. Once we got home, I tackled the grouting of the ensuite floor. I was hoping to finish all of the grouting tonight but unfortunately the floor took a bit longer than anticipated.

I should be able to get the feature tiles completed tomorrow night after work (lots of little blue tiles).

Hubby worked on measuring and drilling holes for the next lot of downlights, which will be placed in the living room.

Oh, and I have to mention how impressed I am with the new skylight in the kitchen! It's really opened up the room and makes me feel so much happier. I'm definitely a child of the light, requiring lots and lots of light as one of my feel-good factors!
